Q: How can I join the zoo?
A: You can join over the phone by calling (605) 367-7003 and, of course you can always join on your visit to the zoo.
Q: When will I get my membership card?
A: If you join over the phone or through the mail, you will receive your membership within two weeks through the mail. If you join in person at the Zoo, we may be able to give you your card at that time.
Q: Can I visit before I get my card?
A: Sure! Just bring your photo ID and stop by the Admissions Booth to verify your purchase.
Q: Is there a fee for parking?
A: Parking is free of charge at the Great Plains Zoo & Delbridge Museum.
Q: Do members receive discounts on merchandise or events?
A: Members receive a 15% discount on merchandise at the Zootopia Gift Shop, as well as members-only discounts at selected events and Education programs.
Q: Can I put my membership on hold?
A: No. Memberships become active immediately upon purchase and cannot be suspended.
Q: Is my membership good from the time of purchase or for a calendar year?
A: Your membership is valid from the day it is purchased to the end of the month in which it was purchased one year later. For example, if you buy your membership January 23, 2007 it will expire January 31, 2008.
Q: Can I still visit if I misplaced my membership card?
A: Yes! Just stop by the Admissions Booth at the zoo and receive a temporary pass. If you’ve misplaced your card permanently, a new card can be issued for a $10.00+tax processing fee.
Q: Can I lend my membership card to a friend or family member?
A: No. Memberships are nontransferable and are valid only for the person whose name appears on the card. Supporting ID is required for entrance. However, we do offer a Friend & Family Discount if you will be visiting with these individuals.
Q: Why do I need to show photo ID when I use my card to enter the Great Plains Zoo & Delbridge Museum?
A: As a nonprofit organization that relies heavily on membership and attendance for support, we need to prevent misuse of our membership cards. We also want to protect members should their cards be lost or stolen. We try very hard to keep our membership prices affordable for as many people in our community as possible. If families and neighbors shared memberships, our revenue would be severely reduced and we would have little choice but to raise our prices.
Q: Can I use my membership at other zoos and aquariums?
A: You can use your Great Plains Zoo membership for free or reduced admission to over 160 other zoos nationwide. You can view the most current list here. We recommend you contact the zoo you intend to visit prior to your trip to check current reciprocity as it is subject to change without notice.
Q: Is my membership payment tax deductible?
A: Yes. Your payment, less the fair market value of the benefits you receive, is deductible for tax purposes. Under Internal Revenue Services guidelines, the estimated value of standard-level membership benefits is not substantial; therefore the amount of your payment is a deductible contribution.
Q: How can I add a nanny to the membership?
A: The Great Plains Zoo membership structure allows Family, Patron or Directors Gold Circle Members to add one nanny for $10. This can be done at any time, but does not influence the expiration date. (Not applicable for Individual Memberships.)
